Twycross House School was founded in 1977 and is a selective co-educational day school for pupils aged 8-18 years. Twycross House is a listed building dating back to 1703 and is located off the village green. The school is set in over thirty acres of grounds including gardens, woodland, sports pitches and playing fields. Other facilities include a hall, Astroturf pitch, the Kirkpatrick Theatre, ICT suite, science laboratories, specialist art room, library, the Underwood dining room, sports hall, indoor swimming pool and outdoor tennis courts.

The feel of a country house is preserved and fosters the warm family atmosphere which characterises the school’s pastoral care.  We endeavour to cultivate a supportive and guiding environment where our pupils can flourish and achieve their full potential. Mutual trust and respect and the need to consider the consequences of individual decisions on the society of the school as a whole are emphasised. Individual initiative is encouraged and cooperation and fellowship across all ages are promoted. An academic education of high standard is provided leading to GCSE, A level and Oxbridge entrance. The school has an outstanding record of achievement in public examinations and in placing sixth formers at top universities. This is a result of receiving excellent tuition in small classes – the maximum class size is 20.

All applicants sit an entrance examination supported by an interview and reference from their previous school. The pupils’ academic performance is monitored on a regular basis and there are parent/teacher consultations each year. Parents may request further consultations at any time. There are three terms per year, with a total of 35 working weeks. School hours are from 9.00am to 3.30pm, Monday to Friday.

The school is very much at the heart of the local community. It has been instrumental in the development of the Twycross conservation area with the installation of heritage lighting and the continual upkeep of the village green. With the recent acquisition of Orton Wood and Twycross Cricket Club we are passionate about retaining the green spaces within in our community.
